Passion flower

This evergreen plant with its spectacular flowers is a native of the tropical rainforest in Central and Southern America. It owes its name to the missionaries in the newly discovered continent of America at the time, who believed that the unique structure of the flowers resembled a symbol of Christ’s Passion. Owing to its long cultural and medical history, the exotic plant was named the 2011 medicinal plant of the year.

Lemon balm

Lemon balm originally came from southern Europe, but it has long been at home in our gardens. In the Middle Ages the plant was even grown in every cloister garden by decree as it was considered valuable and indispensable. As the name suggests, lemon balm leaves smell slightly lemony when you rub them and are frequently used as a herb or infusion Orthomol Nemuri night - the sleep spray with 1 mg melatonin

Orthomol Nemuri night spray offers practical, rapid and simple help for all those who find it difficult to drop off to sleep in the evening. The spray combines the messenger substance melatonin with the established effects of plant extracts from passion flower and lemon balm. Shortly before going to bed, it is sprayed once in the mouth. The melatonin can be absorbed quickly via the mucous membrane of the mouth and contributes to reducing the time taken to fall asleep. The positive effect is noticeable when 1 mg melatonin is taken shortly before bedtime. Melatonin contributes to the alleviation of subjective feelings of jet lag. The positive effect is noticeable when at least 0.5 mg melatonin is taken shortly before bedtime on the first day of travel,
and also on the initial days after arrival at the destination. Regardless of when and where you need help to fall asleep, the small, robust PET bottle is always ready to use. The product does not contain any sugar,
alcohol or colourants. The spray is also vegan and has a pleasant peppermint flavour.

Having a good sleep – a thing of dreams?

It’s a familiar scenario: working late into the evening at the end of a strenuous day, attempting to solve problems as night draws in – no wonder sleep is elusive. For many people whose everyday life is governed by troubled sleep and tiredness during the day, dropping off to sleep quickly and waking up feeling rested in the morning can be nothing but a frustrating dream. It is important to consider that a good sleep is crucial for mental and physical health. Our body regenerates itself while we sleep in order to function properly on the following day. Our memory stores what we have learned that day, and our experiences are processed. Insufficient sleep also prevents the immune system and wound healing from working properly. Even one single night of disturbed sleep can have a detrimental effect on your mood, energy and attentiveness. Sleep disturbances harm your quality of life and also your health if problems persist over the long term. Knowing the internal and external factors that influence sleep can improve night-time rest.

Dropping off to sleep – often easier said than done

The body needs a certain amount of routine before falling asleep. This is because many processes in the body follow a rhythm, including the release of hormones. Very few people succeed in establishing an undisturbed bedtime routine, though. Our days are complicated enough, and so many people look for a simple and rapid remedy to help them drop off to sleep quickly.

The significance of melatonin for our sleep

The 24-hour day-night rhythm is significantly influenced by light and darkness. Light induces activity, and darkness causes our organism to prepare for sleep. In the evening the body grows tired naturally as the sleep hormone melatonin is released. This messenger substance is one of the hormones that regulate our sleep/wake rhythm. The process only begins at the onset of darkness, and light causes inhibition of melatonin production. Lamps, screens and other sources of lighting can therefore considerably interfere with our natural rhythm.
